June 25-27, 2021 - $450
Join me for this weekend workshop in spectacular Central Oregon. We'll be visiting some of the crown jewels of the area. The exact locations will be determined based on seasonal conditions and weather in order to best take advantage of the photographic potential. During our field sessions we will cover concepts like mastering the technical aspects of equipment, how to work with available light, building strong composition and problem solving. This workshop is intended for students of all skill levels and experience.
Because of covid19, we will be spending more time in the field. The post processing sessions will be done online during the workshop. I will be limiting capacity to 4 participants as well.
What to expect:
Expect beautiful locations and long days. Late Spring is a prime time to photograph in Central Oregon. This means early mornings and late evenings chasing the light. Be ready for extreme temperatures, especially cold. Even though it's almost summer and daytime highs are usually in the 70s, it can be below freezing at sunrise, especially in the mountains. Bring warm clothes and a hat and gloves to help stay warm in the field.
Recommended Gear:
These are not requirements, but you will get the most out of this workshop if you have the gear recommended on this list.
Photo equipment:
DSLR Camera, ultra wide angle lens such as a 16-35mm, mid range lens around 24-70mm, tripod, remote shutter release, and a polarizing filter.
Non-photo related gear:
Waterproof warm jacket, hat, gloves, waterproof boots, water bottle, energybar, bug spray.
Physical Requirements:
We won't be doing a ton of hiking, but some locations will require a hike of up to a mile each way. Trekking poles are recommended for the hike at Smith Rock as there are some sections of trail that are a bit steep.
Location:
All presentations and meet ups will take place at the Best Western Plus, Peppertree Inn, Bend Oregon. A block of rooms will be made available for registered participants in the workshop. Book early to secure your room. The room block will have to be released 30 days prior to the workshop. You can book directly here: https://www.bestwesternpremierbend.com
